Matt played eight seasons in the Majors pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and Minnesota Twins, and pitched in the 2010 All Star game being credited with the win.

However, before Matt had even stepped on the pitcher's mound in the Majors he nearly gave up on Baseball altogether.
